Multiplication grids for 2 digits worksheet
Multiplication grids for 2 digits worksheet
When numbers get too big to count on your fingers, you can split them up. The grid method breaks larger numbers into tens and units so that they are easier to multiply.
Work out: 42 x 5
1) Break up the 42 and add it to the grid. Put the 5 on the side.

2) Work out the sums 40 x 5 and 2 x 5. Then add the answers together.
